I've never heard of this band before today but I'm digging it. They have a new album out and they are coming to the Echo in LA! It's Hunx and his Punx and here's the AMAZON LINK to the new album.

RIP Elizabeth Taylor

I sort of missed talking about this but with the passing of Elizabeth Taylor, I had to do something. Elizabeth liked going to the Abbey Bar & Restaraunt in West Hollywood and a few years ago she gave them a painting of herself. So the day she died I twatted on twitter that everyone should go there and toast her picture. Well it took me a few days to actually go but I did get my picture in front of the dame.

Life of the Bradley

I figured it was about time I posted a few of the things going on in my little life. So a couple of weeks ago my friend Robby took us all out sailing Long Beach Harbor which was a complete blast. It was a little cold, but it was hella fun. The Leivas didn't care so much for it but we did at least learn that. Now he also knows it's totally safe so he won't worry when I leave his ass at home.

I've been working up some new music as well, there's two songs I'm kind of digging at the moment - one called "Echo" and one that is a reworking of an old lyric called "Ecstasy". My friend Brandon from Turbo Sunshine who remixed "Rock Hard" is actually helping me with "Echo" and I think I'm going to try and get some more help with the other songs. I'm really pretty sick of working with loops and myself and really want to start working with other musicians, but for the time being with a few new songs and the left overs from the Everybody Hates You sessions, I may have enough really good songs for a new album by the summer. The songs that were left off of "Everybody Hates You" were really only left off because they didn't flow with the songs I wanted on the album, so now they all kind of work out together quite nicely. There's also a reworking of a song called "Aren't You Proud" which I did in 2006 - it's an ode to my friend Michelle Wenzel who died and it's one of my favorite songs ever so I reworked some lines and re-recorded it and it's a song I'm really proud of.

also, my pal K and I decided it was high time to get our shizz together and we joined the Groundlings School for Improv. It's a 6 week course and at the end we all put on a show - classes start next Tuesday so that should be interesting. I'll try to write more but this blogging thing is hard - in the meantime if you are reading this Mrs. Hunter - I miss you and I will call you!!!

Tabitha

I love this - it's the opening to the 1977-78 series "TABITHA" - a spin off of BEWITCHED starring Lisa Hartman - some people got it, some people don't

Lisa Hartman Re-issues

Just got the news from Wounded Bird that Lisa Hartman’s album Letterock has arrived at the Sony office. They are sending me a copy and waiting for the other two Lisa Hartman re-releases. I will be pimping these out for months to come! They arrive in stores mid April and you can pre order on Amazon.

Election and Mardi Gras

For months I've been ranting and raving about West Hollywood politics and yesterday was finally election day. I haven't checked the polls yet but we'll see if my boys got in.

Meanwhile yesterday was also Fat Tuesday (ie Mardi Gras) and West Hollywood had a street fair in the alleys behind the main strip of the bars. It was a friggin' blast! Drinking in the alley felt like I was going back to my roots! I didn't pick up any beads but for some reason I also gave away the ones I had. Strange.

My only real regret is I forgot to have a margarita.

The Mistress Of The Dark

Several years ago I was working free lance for a Latino gay magazine and I had the opportunity to interview Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) and it was one of the best days of my life. We sat and talked for 2 hours at this little diner in Hollywood.

Fast forward to this Sunday and I attended An Evening With Cassandra Peterson at the Silent Movie Theatre on Fairfax. It was a blast. She was there and took questions, and they showed a never before sitcom that starred Elvira and Katherine Helmond of "soap", "who's the boss", "overboard" etc. It was actually really hilarious.

The night was tapped off with a showing of Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark. I've seen it a zillion times but it was really cool to see it with a bunch of other fans. Great night!

Swivek's Pride

It's a whirlwind week around here. On Sunday I went to my pal Devin's for brunch and a crash course on making a press kit and how to apply to play at Gay Pride. The deadline for applications is on Friday so I'm working my digits to the bone to get everything out in time for consideration.

Wish me luck and if I get to play pride you will all be the first two people to know!
