Save The Cheerleader, Smoke A Joint

Here at Bradley's Buzz, it's always been our objective to get you, the humble reader to find new experiences, most notably the experience you can find by sitting your ass in front of the television or copping a squat on the floor and putting some head phones on.

Well, today's no different for I have two new loves to share with you. First up, if you aren't already you need to switch on NBC on Mondays (yes tonight) at 9/8 central for the great Heroes. The Leivas loved this show from the minute it debuted but I didn't watch it then but I was putting it onto DVDR so one day about three weeks ago I had me a mini marathon and let me tell you this show is awesome. Screw Lost & even Desperate Housewives, this show is the cool kid on the block.

Now I'm not a big fan (or even a small fan) of comic books, superheroes or even science fiction but this show has me hooked. The story of a group of individuals from all over the world who suddenly discover they have some kind of super powers - the cheerleader from Texas who appears to be indestructible, the brothers from New York who think they can fly, the painter who can paint the future, and my two favorites - the blonde Las Vegas internet porn worker Nikki who sees a different version of herself in the mirror, blacks out and finds numerous dismembered baddies all around her, and Hiros, the Japanese office worker who takes his pal on a journey when he discovers (to his delight) that he can bend time.

But there's more to it than just that - there are people who know about these super powers including the cheerleader's adopted father, and his two assistants - one who can read minds and one who can "cleanse" out the bad in people; and the son of the Indian professor who was following these people and the ultra baddie 'hero' who is murdering the heroes by cutting off the top of their heads and stealing their brains.

Plus there are always other people with special powers showing up including Nikki's husband, and a cool waitress from Texas. It's all so fascinating you too will be chanting 'save the cheerleader, save the world'.
Then when you're through with your TV viewing head on over to the video store and rent Reefer Madness - The Musical. This is now one of my top 10 favorite movies. Sure, my top 10 is about 35 long but so what?

Taking the 1930's shock film and turning it into a Broadway styled musical was only step one, then Showtime came aboard and made this movie. Hilarious and entertaining -featuring a slew of fun actors including Veronica Mars' Kristen Bell and a stand out performance by Anna Gesteyer who gets to sing her version of the best cut - "The Stuff" with such passion it's hard to believe she's so jacked up on marijuana her life has hit the toilet. I like her version a ton better than the recorded version from the stage musical, but I don't think there's a soundtrack to it. Though if there is one you can add it to that Bradley Christmas shopping list you've got going (and I know you have one). In any event, even when Anna isn't singing, she's a frickin' riot. Rent it! Buy it! You'll love it!
