Dancing In The Streets
So I know there are a few of you (Amy) who are wishin' and hopin' that my absence from posting here is because I am frantically whipping up season 2 of Carlton Heights. I'd love to tell you all that is precisely the reason, but I'd be a liar...Instead my job has moved from our own building on Melrose to the grandiose and acid inducing Pacific Design Center, which I like to call "the mall." Should I happen to say something about a fellow 'store' in the 'mall' I am constantly reminded that they are showrooms in the PDC; so you know I say something about a store in the mall every chance I get. There's nothing like making a bunch of drama queens bob and weave as I dare to tear down their big notions... for a real dose of fun I like to ask where the food court is as I'm just dying for an Orange Julius and a chili dog.
Because I can see the giganticus Pacific Design Center from my house, I find it a tad foolish to drive to work every day and pay for parking so I've opted to get up and walk to work every day - yes in the million and one degree heat that has been wreaking havoc - needless to say the whole thing has made me quite tired...
and then when I get home I take a cold shower, pour a drink and sing sing sing my little heart away. I am this close to wrapping up the new Swivek album and it's getting tiring and infuriating when I can't come up with the finishing touches we need - as in I can't sing the frickin' songs I wrote for myself. I wrote three new songs after three were rejected from the album (damn those powers that are 'not so' flexible) and there are two more I have to redo the vocals for that are giving me the most problems ever. Perhaps it's the heat, perhaps it's the walk home, perhaps it's all the booze, what ever it is, I hope it passes as I am bound and determined to finish up the songs this weekend...
and hopefully sometime by next week, I'll be back to post some more - I do have a ton and ton of new music to review (well new to me anyway) and of course I may have some Swivek news by then, and for all of those dying to read what happens in Carlton Heights (Amy) I will be moving onto that too....
Until then, this is how I spend my big walk to and from work - all three and a half blocks - I strap on some head phones and listen to my birthday present from the Leivas - two weeks before the great IPhone was launched I got this Upstage for my birthday and I'm finally using the music feature, much to the Leivas' happiness, I'm sure. So those of you driving down Santa Monica Boulevard around 8:45 am and 5:00 pm Monday - Friday, I'm the cute blonde, sweating, and dancing up and down the sidewalk, trying not to see the patrons of the gay bars at Happy Hour... well just wave and yell "Hey Brad!"
