It's been awhile since we did a new Bubbatunes but I got new ink and paper for Christmas so I've been working on a few things. Also, a few months ago I decided to go through my entire CD collection and listen to them in order of their release. As it happens, I am now in April of 1979 when this little ditty was released.
Several times a year I tell everyone how much I love Cheryl Ladd. She was my favorite Charlie's Angel and she happens to be the only one of them who was also a singer. I've already posted her debut album way back in 2007 and it took me this long to get her next two albums - Dance Forever & Take A Chance; but here we are finally.
Like her debut album from the previous year, Dance Forever goes between soft pop ballads and some upbeat soft pop. I think Dance Forever is a better album and it's probably because more outside professional songwriters were brought in. She does an awesome cover of Melissa Manchester's "Better Days" and the upbeat "You're The Only One I Ever Needed" was re-recorded by Dolly Parton a year later for her album Dolly, Dolly, Dolly. "Still Awake" is bouncy fun and "Missing You" issued as a single has a sassy disco-ish beat. There is a 12" remix running around but I haven't been able to find out so it didn't make it as a bonus track on the album. But the bonus tracks we did get are "Where Is Someone To Love Me" released in 1980 to the Japan market (Cheryl's music was big in Japan) and it's flip side "Just Like Old Times" - one of my all time fav Cheryl songs - "So let's forget to write/ please neglect to call/ Maybe losing you's no loss at all" - sassy fun.
So for a limited time enjoy some Cheryl - we'll be back soon with Take A Chance.

So it's been awhile since there has been a new Swivek album but never fear I'm working on it now. A 13 track set entitled "I GUESS I'M NOT ALONE". The songs featured include songs left off of the EVERYBODY HATES YOU album, plus some old lyrics and themes I've wanted to tackle for awhile. I'm also incorporating my pals Devin Tait of Devin Tait & The Traitors, members of the former Signal Ranch group and my pal Amy Crosby of Shitting Glitter to help out. I'm getting very excited, but first recording must commence.
With Prop 8 getting overturned (once again) today seemed to be the perfect to start recording my song "Wounded." The lyrics and music were written the day after Prop 8 was announced as legal back in 2008 (one month after I got married), I was devastated, hurt, and 'wounded.' But I knew (know) our day will come so I wrote the song.So I wrote it the day after Prop 8 was legal and I'm going to re-record it the day Prop 8 was deemed unconstitutional. Seems perfect.
Here are the lyrics:
W O U N D E D Written by Bradley Jacobson
You can’t change what is true Heaven knows, what about you? You’re fading fast from memory You’re on the wrong side of history
I’ve been wounded, I’ve been scorned I’ve burned in flames and been reborn There’s nothing more you will take from me With your hate and your bigotry I’ll walk right through your brimstone And I will find my way home
Why don’t you walk the path of right instead Of hiding behind a book to spew hatred Your time of lies will fade away And bring about a brighter day
I’ve been wounded, I’ve been scorned I’ve burned in flames and been reborn There’s nothing more you will take from me With your hate and your bigotry I’ll walk right through your brimstone, yeah And I will find my way home
And when you’re burning in your own brimstone God will carry me home God will carry me home
Finally after all these years, the Appeals court has deemed Prop 8 unconstituional! I couldnt be happier. It's going to the Supreme Court and we can only for the best. After all, they're going to have to pull my wedding ring off my cold dead hand. Now I can go back to the kitchen and no I'm still a legit housewife :0)
