Bryan Adams? Really?

So here is something you don't hear everyday - I had a sex dream about Bryan Adams last night. I never even knew I was attracted to him. In the dream, I was feeling like a little lovin' so I drove over to Bryan's and crawled into bed with him. He was very happy to see me and we made out and had this long talk like we had been booty partners forever. If Bryan Adams is has friendly and nice as he is in my dream - kudos to him.

And since he's on my mind - there's a little song he co-wrote called "Hidin' From Love" that my best gal Lisa Hartman recorded. I also just randomly found a video he made of his version of the song - strange that I had the dream before I saw him in these shorts. Hopefully, this won't be a recurring thing - check out the two videos:

SWIVEK LIVE!

Here it is finally for all those gays, guys and ghouls who weren't at the show. Here is my performance at the Boofont Sisters' Halloween Show at Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood on October 23, 2010. My first live set evah! It can be better but it could also have been a lot worse... no matter what it was a blast and I can't wait to perform again.

Rocked It Hard

Well I did it - my very first live show. The Boofont Sisters were brilliant as ever and it was so cool to actually put on my set and for them to have even asked me.

As for my nerves, I was only really nervous for a bit on Saturday afternoon but once we started putting everything together I felt better. Robby became my handler and took over on the costume and my make up. Then we did a rehearsal with him and Mike as the audience. I guess they liked it cuz Robby went into super charge mode and got me all pumped up.

Around 9 we were all set and Kristin came over so we hopped a cab and hit Hamburger Mary's. I talked to Dan, Cyndi's husband about the song tracks and went to the back room to hang with my other celebrity pals :0) . Tina was already there and had a Captain & Coke for me.

My friend Jason was also there, and Mike's friend Deene showed up too! Devin & Dylan got there during my second song but I saw them come in and they looked so excited. Everyone was taking pictures and Robby was shooting video - it was awesome.
The Boofonts went on first and there was another guest drag performer and then I went on. I did three songs, "Crypt Keeper" - a Halloween song I wrote a few years ago for a compilation album we did. Then I broke into "Rock Hard" which I had rehearsed over and over and had this idea of jumping down on my knees and doing all this crazy stuff but the stage actually had a stripper pole so I utilized that instead. Then I ended with "Fabulous" and though no one would have noticed really I did end up forgetting some of the lyrics but I rolled with it. At the very end of the night everyone got up and did "The Time Warp" which probably didn't go all that well. The Boofonts were good but I didn't know the words so I had a lyric sheet and I still didn't do the thing justice. But Wee Sandy, another performer forget her musical cue which was the jump to the left line! So I wasn't all that bad and I did drop to the floor at the end.

Alf had been very worried about my performance as he is very nervous but after the show he told me he'd never worry about me performing again... that's as big of a compliment as I could have asked for!

After we left, we were going to go to Micky's but Tina was pretty drunk and she ended up falling and slamming her face into concrete so Robby and I drove her home to the Valley - but even with her pain and suffering she still had a good time... and now I can't wait to perform again.

I even ended up winning the Costume Contest - or I guess Rob did since he created it. There will be videos and photos soon! Until then here's a candid from my pal Devin:

Random Family Video

Today I bring you something a little special. In August my mom, sister and little nephew came to visit and one day I plan on writing all about the fun time, but for now here's a fun little video of my nephew singing along to Blondie's "Ring Of Fire". My nephew loves the song by Johnny Cash but I guess the only version I had was Blondie's - but listen to how he goes right along with it. The video isn't edited so it starts out with Evan being bored of Tanya Tucker's "Rodeo Girls" but it gets fun from there!

Mellow Mayhem

This weekend was pretty mellow considering how some of mine have gone. Friday, my pal Robby came over and the Leivas and I joined him for some happy hour drinks which lasted til about 12:30 - not too shabby I think. On Saturday we headed down to Harbor City for some time with Alf's parents. It's always a ton of fun hanging out with them, and Alf's sister Evelyn and her husband were also there.

Saturday night I spent rehearsing some songs for my upcoming debut at Hamburger Mary's. Vicky Boofont has suggested 2-3 songs so I'm still trying to get a real feel for what songs I want to do. I know 2 of them but for a third I have a couple of ideas but don't know if I should do an older song or one off the new album since that's what I'm actually promoting... oh the probs.

Yesterday we didn't even do our normal brunch and I have to say it ended up being a very relaxing (and non alchoholic) day. I added a bunch of music to my Zune as I'm thinking of getting rid of a bunch of CDs I don't really listen to.. and the Leivas and I caught up on some TV. We watched a fairly interesting horror flick called "The Echo" which was kind of boring but the lead guy was good looking.

Then we watched our Law & Order SVU and Los Angeles episodes, an episode of "Supernatural", the "30 Rock" live episodes (east and west coast feeds) and "The Big Bang Theory."

Tonight it's back to rehearsing and I have to come up with the costumes I'll be wearing - I have a pretty good idea so now it's just making sure I have some kind of moves for the show so I don't look particularly plastic on stage....

The Stars Are Shining

Yesterday I had one of the best days ever - it didn't start out any differently but it just happened to be great. First, when I put my dollar worth of quarters into the vending machine at work to get my 85 cent pretzels I so desperately needed, the thing shot me back 90 cents! Score.

Then I got an email from my pal Joe, who is actually Vicky Boofont of the fabulous Boofont Sisters. He wanted to know if I would like to be a special guest at the upcoming Halloween Boofont Sisters show at Hamburger Mary's. I flipped out! I haven't wanted to do some live stuff forever and without actually pursuing it nothing much has happened and to have someone who I think is actually very talented ask me to be part of a show, I was ecstatic.

The problem - there's always a problem - is our friend Tommy didn't buy Alf a birthday gift so he decided we would all go to Knots Scary Farm and Tommy would pay for our tickets. Guess what night? That's right October 23rd - same night as the Boofonts. I told Alf about the show and he wasn't too upset about it, but still that poor guy always ends up with the short end of my stick. But that's what you get when you marry into the showbiz.... ha!

So I told Joe this morning that yes I will definitely do the show. He told me he was thinking of me doing 2-3 songs - so friggin cool. I'm really excited because it's Halloween themed and he wants us to do costumes and I have a perfect Halloween song. When we still had Flexible Records, Patrick always put out a Halloween compilation and on the first one I did this awesome song called "Crypt Keeper" - so I'm totally going to do that one... I'm going to dress up too - what I really want is a really hot dude to dance with me onstage dressed like a crypt keeper-ish... I've got to find a hot guy now...

So to all my peeps out there - on October 23rd come to Hamburger Mary's to see Swivek!

And to brush up on your Swivek - download our music on Itunes or CD Baby.

Video Age

I thought you should take some time out of your schedule to watch some indie videos. I have some friends who are quite talented and putting out music. They've also done some videos for their songs so I'm going to share them with you:

First up is Invisible Material's "Grown Man Cries" - which was recently featured on http://www.towleroad.com/ and has my friends Devin Tait and his brother Brandon in the band. Robin the singer is kind of a hottie if you like abs of steel:

One of my best pals Patrick is the star maker in Orange Television and he has a new album coming out very shortly called "Bitch Trip" - from that album comes this little homage video for "Supermarket"

Devin from the aforentioned Invisible Material was/is part of Shitting Glitter who are being a bit revamped these days into an all girl rock band - can't wait to hear the new stuff but they have an album out which features Devin and a great video for "19th & Lexington" (oh and look for yours truly near the beginning) :

and who could forget my favorite indie band SWIVEK! - Here's my video for "Rock Hard":

Birthday Wish

Yesterday was the Leivas' birthday and it was a smashing success. I bought him this really cool universal remote and if you know anything about my man, you will know this is the kind of thing he loves. He loved it! After work he set it all up so we now have one remote to replace the 15 that were around the house. Then I took him to dinner at Eleven and we stayed to watch a bit of Musical Mondays - where they show musical numbers from movies while some people act out parts - it was fun but tiring...

and now speaking of birthdays - today is the birthday of one of my all time favorite actresses - Deborah Foreman - THE Valley Girl of "Valley Girl" - the chaueffer of "My Chauffer" - the Buffy/Muffy of "April Fool's Day" and the list goes on and on. ... "Valley Girl" is one of the movies I saw as a kid that made me realize how much I wanted to live in La La land. A few years ago Josie Cotton (who appears in the film singing songs) was having a show at the Knitting Factory and I had found out about it because I found Deborah on My Space. That night I got to meet Josie, see her perform and even talk and meet with Deborah Foreman - it was my 1982 Dream.

Here's a few gems from the Deborah Foreman catalog:

Another Whirlwind

Well it was another fantabulous weekend - it was our wedding anniversary on Saturday but the Leivas and I started it out on Friday. After work I stopped at this little shop on Santa Monica and "Big" Mike, the waiter from Micky's came running out and clapping for "the best looking man in WeHo" - that's right it's me and I have a fan club.

I went to the store to find something for Alf for our anniversary. I didn't want to do anything major because we buy stuff for each other all the time. But I found a cute card and then I found a T-shirt that said, "Trophy Husband" on it and as much as I wanted it for myself, I thought it was about time the Leivas got a little support. So I bought him that.

When we got home we decided to go out for a little bit. We went to Gym Sportsbar down the street for Happy Hour and ordered food from Hunger - this cute and good little restaraunt across the courtyard from the bar. They deliver the food over so we can drink and eat. We ran into our neighbors Val & Noelle and talked to them for awhile before heading over to Micky's.

A few weeks ago, my friend Rob and I were at Micky's and this older couple started talking to us. The one is originally from Malta and the other one has lived in WeHo for years. They have been together for over 20 years and travel all over. On Friday, the Leivas and I ended up running into them again so we talked and hung out with them. They are actually meeting us tonight at Eleven - as it's the Leivas' birthday today and he wanted to have dinner at Eleven and hang out for this Musical Night they have. So that was all fun and tonight should be fun.

On our actual anniversary, we woke up and exchanged gifts. He actually loved his T-shirt and he bought me cologne - both my Black and Reaction - I love both of them. Then we hung out all day and all night - he was a little hung over from the night before. I had really wanted to go to Palms and see Devin perform and support Robert and Blender, but it was our anniversary and it wasn't really what we had planned on doing... so next time I will for sure go to anything they invite me to.

On Sunday, Tommy & Ryan came up with some cupcakes for Alf's birthday. Gaybor Mike also came over and Robby had his 3-year old nephew Robert and also brought these 2 fantabulous ladies from Norway that Robby knew when he stayed in Brazil. We all had brunch and even took little Robert over to Micky's to show him off. The whole big plan was to give the kid a pool day so we all went back to the house and had watermelon juice and champagne (not the kid mind you) and hung out at the pool... it was so fun. I love the pool and am glad that in the middle of October we still had some heat in the air.

After that my friend Geoffrey Ross was going to be at Hamburger Mary's where they have Celebrity Bingo - Sharon Osbourne was supposed to be there to call numbers and then Geoff was auctioning off some of his artwork, so the Leivas and I went over there, but it was friggin' busy (and they have horrible service to begin with) and Sharon didn't show up cuz someone in her staff died (!) so we only stayed a bit and then came home... and now I'm at work while the Leivas still has two more days off..

so that was my weekend - how was yours...

The Futures A Buzzin'

There are a ton of things happening all of a sudden:

1. P!nk, one of my all time favorites just announced she is releasing a Greatest Hits album in November and you can stream the first single - plus she's shooting a video starting today and it will feature a gay wedding - she rocks. Check these links: Article on video, and the single "Raise Your Glass" (she's speaking my language).

2. Another of my favorite bands Rooney is releasing a Christmas EP and going on tour and will be in LA in December: Read here

3. There are a ton of local things going on this weekend too - Tomorrow night my pals Shitting Glitter are playing in Santa Ana - now an all girl band they are gonna rock and you should check it out if you can. Kegs 120 North International Boardwalk Redondo Beach, CA

4. On Saturday my pal Robert is throwing together his monthly mash up night called Blender. It will be at The Palms on Santa Monica Boulevard in WeHo and promises to be awesome. Also at around 8:30 before Blender starts my pal Devin Tait & The Traitors will be playing. The theme is fucked up Disney and you should go in costume.

5. My boss just emailed me and told me he is going to pay me my third quarter commission despite not meeting his goal... this is very exciting as now I can buy some Christmas presents.

6. I am probably going to be missing both the Friday and Saturday things I just told you about as this weekend (October 9th) is my two year wedding anniversary... that's right 2 years, still in love and the haters can't take away my marriage license (yet)

7. And finally on Monday, October 11th, it's my husband's birthday. Now I need to find him some amazing present....

Purple for It Gets Better

In the past few weeks at least 5 teenagers have committed suicide because of bullying. The bullying that took place was only because the kids were perceived to be gay. This makes me so sick to my stomach, particularly because I was bullied in the same way. These kids were so miserable they couldn't go to school and couldn't go on living. It's so sad and sick and wrong. Because of this Dan Savage started It Gets Better, videos of adult gays and lesbians telling kids that their life will get better. Also, a number of people started a facebook group to tell everyone that today October 6th should be a day of rememberance and for that to wear purple. So today I wear purple and I am going to do one of these videos..

BubbaTUESday

It's been awhile since we've had a new Bubbatunes. I actually have 3 that I made but then lost all the artwork so until I get a new scanner or decide to re-work them all, there are three Juice Newton albums that may not get a blog post.. but I'm sure most of you won't mind too much. Today's BubbaTune comes all the way from 1978 when anyone who had a TV series or an inkling could get a record deal. I give you KRISTY & JIMMY McNICHOL.

bub142 Kirsty & Jimmy McNichol (October 5, 2010)
I'm not going to lie to you all this isn't a very good album. Kristy doesn't really have amazing chops and if you thought she was flat during "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" or "The Pirate Movie" this isn't going to make you any happier. Personally by the time she made those movies I thought she was pretty good. This is just basically a 'let's cash in while we can' type of album.

But some of the songs are pretty good. Mostly made up with one or the other McNichols singing lead there's a lot of old 60's songs including the Crystals actually singing back up on "My Boyfriend's Back". The Jimmy sung "Page By Page" is pretty good too but there's really no excuse for "Rock & Roll Is Here To Stay". And the last song "Hot Tunes" is really something everyone should hear...

But like anyone who came here looking for Kristy - if you're a fan, you're a fan. I have always loved her so this is something I had to have and now you can have it too!

bub142 Kristy & Jimmy McNichol
Tracks:
01. He's A Dancer
02. Page By Page
03. Girl You Really Got Me Goin'
04. My Boyfriends Back
05. Slow Dance
06. He's So Fine
07. Box On Wheels
08. Rock & Roll Is Here To Stay
09. Hot Tunes

..and we're back

Okay I have decided to make it a point to write on this blog every Monday-Friday. I'm going to start a journal and repost on here, just so everyone knows what I'm up to every single day. It might be boring, or it might be fun, but either way one day when I've forgotten how much fun I was, I'll have all this info out there and I can sort through it while lounging in the home...

In the next few days I'll probably do some back tracking but for today, I'll just tell you about my weekend which was a complete riot. On Saturday Alf and I drove to Long Beach with our friend Dylan. We went to some brewery restaraunt right on the water for AJ's birthday. AJ lives in Fullterton with Amy of Shitting Glitter and I haven't seen them in months probably. Everytime AJ and Amy have a party or want to get together something else is always going on.. plus to be honest we hate driving to the OC... but it was a great day and AJ was pretty surprised to see everyone. The food was also very good and the Leivas realized the bar used to be some dive gay bar back in the 80s where you walked onto the beach to get into the place.. sounds pretty cool.

After brunch with the pals, Alf and I headed to Harbor City to visit my inlaws. I love hanging out with Clifford and Juanita and they love me! Of course the wine was a flowing and Juanita and I topped off a gigantic bottle of champagne.

I was in such a good mood and felt so appreciative of everything that when I got home I started calling everyone. I think with all these crazy gay teen suicides and just knowing my in laws love me and that my husband is such a good guy I was a little gushy. I called my pal Melsie who I've known since middle school and told her how when everyone picked on me during school she was always right there and is probably one of the reasons I never did anything foolish when I was ridiculed relentlessly.

Then I called my mom and told her how great she always was and then I texted my 19 year old nephew and told him how much we all loved him and how proud we were of him... then I stumbled back into my house and was in bed by 8:30pm on a Saturday night...

On Sunday, I wanted to chill and not to our crazed fests known as Brunch. So I was all set to just hang and nurse my hangover when I found out Tommy, Ryan and Brian were all headed up from the OC so I texted my pal Rob and told him brunch was back on. We ended up at Bite for a little food and then to Micky's for the endless rounds of drinks that accomanies Brunch with Bradle. Then my friends Brad & Geoff from the Valley texted and said they were headed into WeHo so they came out to Mickys.. then my pal Brent was walking by and ended up getting Marc (who I hadn't seen in weeks either) and they all joined us.

Finally everyone started headed home so Alf, Rob, gaybor Mike and I stopped at Trunks for one more drink before heading home. We had decided to hang out in the hot tub then we came home and I passed out from not drinking on Sunday...

Today the Leivas stayed home from work and I decided it was time to start blogging again....

thanks for listening and to all those Lisa Hartman requests I've been ignoring .. the link will be back up tomorrow...
