Those Crazy Detachees

Wanda: "There's a dick in Angel's mouth"
Guys: "Yeah so"
Wanda: "It's not attached to anyone!!"

I am one for cheesy and campy movies, in fact some of my all time fav movies are totally camped out - Die Mommy Die! is complete genius in my book, Girls Will Be Girls awesome, plus classics like Valley Of The Dolls and Xanadu - all of these are flix I would watch over and over while I can barely sit through one award winning drama - but what can I say, I like to be entertained.

Most of the time, a campy flick will be so bad and that makes it camp, but sometimes you go into something expecting pure awfulness and come out with something brilliant. Last night I watched one of my brand new all time favorite films.

"One Eyed Monster" is exactly what it sounds like - Ron Jeremy is in the mountains filming a new adult flick when he is hit by a "falling star" and his 9 3/4" penis detaches itself and starts killing people. Ha! That's all I needed to hear in order to put it in my Netflix que. I didn't watch any previews and I didn't read anything more about it.

let me just say it was BRILLZ! Hilarious one liners, really good acting (I'm not even kidding), and a few jump scares.. Plus they were smart enough not to film an actual penis running around as how would you? Instead you even get POV shots from the penis.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND everyone watching it - but here's the 3 minute trailer - though it might ruin it for you since it does have some of the one liners in there and does show a lot of the 90 minute flick, but you'll get the jist of it. Of course I do plan on buying it anyway so you could just come over.

Hot Bastage Of The Week

Hot Bastage Of The Week - I just read an interesting article from 1972 regarding Senator Ted Kennedy, it seems the Gay Activists Alliance were picketing in front of a New York hotel regarding a proposed bill that could cause people to be fired for being gay... as Teddy walked into the hotel and passed the protesters one protester started talking to Ted and walked into the rotating door with him, the guards tried to stop him but Ted informed them that the guy was with him. He listened to the guy's words about the bill and informed him and all the reporters around that he wasn't aware of the bill but did believe that no one should be fired for being gay. On The Record, they made sure to include the article...

For all these years Ted Kennedy has always been the one politician I would know and wait to hear from, and this week he has died; just when the biggest concern of his - the nation's health care, is such a big topic. Now those Reps who voted against any and everything Kennedy did with health care said, "If Kennedy wasn't so ill we could work with him to get a bill passed" and now they say, "If Kennedy hadn't died we could have worked out a way to get a bill passed..." Whatever f***kers, all I know is I thought Ted Kennedy was a pretty cool guy - he seemed to care about the underdog and fought for the underprivileged, despite having an abundance of privileges... and for all that and more TED KENNEDY is this week's Hot Bastage Of The Week!

A Few Of My Favorite Things

Welcome to this week's edition of A Few Of My Favorite Things... so let's get to it.

My whole frickin' life (all of these 20-something years huh umm) I've wanted a Ford Mustang - just about any version of the car would do. One of my earliest TV memories is of Farrah Fawcett and Cheryl Ladd driving the white with blue striped Ford Mustang Cobra II on Charlie's Angels and then today I was walking to work and I saw a brand new Mustang with the same paint job and it is now one of my favorite things - though instead of the classic Shelby name I think they should've called it the Munroe Edition since it was driven by Jill and Kris Munroe on Charlie's Angels.

A video shot of my pals Shitting Glitter and Rich N. Famous performing "I'm A Vampire" at Eleven this past Tuesday.

And after you've the genius that are my friends in Shitting Glitter, drop on in on this hilarious website where people post pictures of well, like it says Awkward Boners... no nudes, that's not really awkward, just poor boys who get snapped for having a little extra something going on in their pants at some more inopportune moments.

RIP - Ellie

Today is kind of sad, first Ted Kennedy dies and now one of my all time favorite songwriters ever has passed away.

Ellie Greenwich died today at 68 - she was part of the Brill Building style of writing working with Jeff Barry and writing some of my all time favorite songs including "River Deep Mountain High", "Da Doo Ron Ron", "Leader Of The Pack" and "Out In The Streets." She also sang on the Blondie album Eat To The Beat - (Blondie did "Out In The Streets" on their very first demo and then redid it for their comeback album)

You can read about her great career on her website: http://www.elliegreenwich.com/ and you can hear her songs just about anywhere. And my pal Patrick mentioned a Bubbatunes tribute album may be in order and I think he may be right!

Rambles

I've lived in LA now for almost ten years and I have to say my life has never been better. Sure I have kind of a crap job but hey I get to walk to work, I get hang out on the 'net every now and then while I'm working and I actually make some money and what the heck everyone has to work and I think it's fairly rare people actually like their job...

But more importantly than what I do from 9-5 M-F is all the fun and excitement I have all of those other hours and days. I have accumulated some of the coolest people as friends, all with varying degrees of wit, wisdom and talent. Forever I've loved hanging out with people with musical interest and talent, or writers or even something so remotely strange as actually reading books and the newspaper.

A few weeks ago I made a new pal named K who is so cool and so much like me it's amazing we didn't meet sooner. Last night I took K out with me to Eleven where my friends from Shitting Glitter performed as part of a Benefit for AIDS Project LA. The show was great, the other acts were great, and my friends were great.

Between all the people I have met in LA and the great pals I've had for years before, and of course the life with Leivas, my pool, the endless supply of sunshine, Captain Morgan and fun - I just feel extremely lucky and happy and wanted to share with both of you - my beloved blog pals.

Hot Bastage Of The Week

As you all probably know yesterday was the anniversary of the day I met the Leivas. To celebrate, we kept it fairly low key - we headed to La Boheme and had a happy happy hour filled with yummy hoeurd'oveures, martinis and Sangria. Then we stopped in at the Normandie Room (still open for those in the curious) and headed home... but all the talking and touching and squeezing and loving made me realize even more how lucky I am to have my man in my life and that is why my hunka hunka burnin' Leivas is this week's Hot Bastage!

Happy Anniversary

Who knew that on August 20th 2000 I would meet the man I would love for the next 9 years... yes, I know - me, a habitual dater in Idaho, a loser magnet in Wisconsin, and finally just when I was ready to slut it up in La La Land, I ended up meeting a great guy and haven't looked back or even completely regretted my decision in all this time..

As you can probably guess today is the 9th Anniversary of the Leivasons . Not the day we got married but more importantly, the day we met. I know you're all wondering how this all came about. How did a cute blonde boy from the Midwest end up with such a great guy...

Well it's my pleasure to tell you the whole story - here is a little story called "Love Needs No Name" which I wrote all about the day I met the Leivas - 9 years ago on a Sunday afternoon..

Get those hankees ready cuz it's kind of hot... kidding, I mean it's romantic.

LOVE NEEDS NO NAME

“I met him on a Sunday
and my heart stood still…”
The Crystals

Good things were destined to happen to me in Los Angeles. I had spent two years of penance in a small mountain town in Idaho and I was ready for the big world. All of my life I had wanted to move to LA and finally I was able to do it. I headed out on a bus and was going to stay with Bennie, who can best be described as a high maintenance friend. He had moved to the city from Idaho and due mostly to his horrible attitude was lonely. Being ever so loving as I am, I thought I’d help him out and move in with him. I knew the city would be the place for me. I was talented and cute and was only a step away from being a big time writer. It didn’t exactly work out that way but what did happen was much better. In the midst of circuit boys and drama queens, I found something more substantial than just a career or a good lay, I found someone to love...

A Few Of My Favorite Things

I know I normally do these on Thursday but tomorrow is a special day (more to come on that tomorrow in fact) so I'm going to show you a few of my favorite things this week.

Forever and a day I've been looking for this and it occassionally enters my mind and luckily this time I found it on You Tube. It's one of my favorite scenes ever from a TV show - it's Samantha Stephens from BEWITCHED being her cousin Serena and singing a song called "Iffin"... It's so great. Now all I have to do is reconfigure my computer so I can download it and make it into an mp3.. you can bet your bootie you'll be seeing it on here if I ever get there. For now enjoy the enjoyable:

Next up, one of my new favorite shows - imagine if you were a semi selfish 24 year old model who headlined into a fruit truck and decided it wasn't your time to die, so you and your guardian angel jump back into the world only you find yourself in a 32 year old semi chunky lawyer - yes it's DROP DEAD DIVA - and let me tell you it is actually really great. The lead actress Brooke Elliot is awesome. Then there's Maragaret Cho as her assistant and most importantly there is April Bowlby as her best friend. April was super awesome on Two & A Half Men and now she's just as great here. Check it out!

and my favorite thing so far this week is my last two week ritual of Sundays hanging out at my pool with pals and drinking mimosas... I do have a charmed life sometimes.

Little Missives

Well hello all - I know I haven't written anything or posted for weeks upon weeks but I am trying to get back into writing and figured the best way to do that is start posting on my own blog.. so Bradley's Buzz is back!

I have to tell you the life of a Bradley in La La Land can be quite exciting. This weekend was a frickin' hoot from start to finish. On Friday I whipped up a few Captain & Cokes and some compilation CD's for my pal Jamie who was celebrating her birthday. One of the mixes I came up with was all supposed to feel like a day of summer, starting with songs about summer, water and heat and going into some nighttime dancing songs so it was a day of summer (titled "Water Sports") but while listening to it, I realized the whole thing told this kind of story and I have now decided to write a play or screenplay using all the songs as the main storytelling device - entitled "Tragic Surf" (after a Motels song) I think it could be an Across The Universe meets Valley Girl type of thing.. I'm actually pretty excited to start working on it.

Then on Saturday, the Leivas and I headed to Temecula to visit his aunt Nida who is 97 and something of a pistol - then we headed to the O.C. (I know what a life I have) for Jamie's birthday party where I laughed and laughed so hard I made other people practically pee their pants.

Finally, my Sunday was filled with my new BFF Kristin who hails from that holy land of the Midwest. She is a frickin' riot and loves to drink - who doesn't love that. She came over the hill from Sherman Oaks, and we headed to Eleven for mimosas and brunch. The Leivas liked her so much he thought she could handle the responsibility of getting me home if he left us to go to the grocery store - that says something since there are friends I've had for years Leivas is leery to leave me with...

After Eleven, we headed to the pool and the Leivas brought us more mimosas. Then after a little break and wee nap - my pals Dylan and Devin brought us dinner and we watched two episodes of "True Blood" (so frickin' good) -

And that my friends is My Life in La La Land -

aren't you glad I'm finally back and rambling?

Anyway, to keep tradition as it is, here's our Monday Random Photo - Kristin and I wetting our whistles (if you will and I know you will)
