Wedding Bells Will Ring
Well it's about friggin' time! It looks like here in the land of la la and ooh la la - we finally have a victory! I (for the moment) have the right to be married to the man I love - according to the California supreme court! West Hollywood is so excited they are serving wedding cake tonight from 7-9! I may have to get me some... of course there's a bunch of out of state and in state money being harbored by the bastards known as the right wing - who think I'm not as valuable a person as they are - so we'll see where we go from here but for now - here's the link (and a pic from my 'domestic partnership' two words that grate on my nerves the same way when I hear Brittney or Madonna are coming out with new albums...)
"In a monumental victory for the gay rights movement, the California Supreme Court overturned a voter-approved ban on gay marriage Thursday in a ruling that would allow same-sex couples in the nation's biggest state to tie the knot.
Domestic partnerships are not a good enough substitute for marriage, the justices ruled 4-3 in an opinion written by Chief Justice Ron George.
Outside the courthouse, gay marriage supporters cried and cheered as news spread of the decision.
"Our state now recognizes that an individual's capacity to establish a loving and long-term committed relationship with another person and responsibly to care for and raise children does not depend upon the individual's sexual orientation," the court wrote.
The city of San Francisco, two dozen gay and lesbian couples and gay rights groups sued in March 2004 after the court halted San Francisco's monthlong same-sex wedding march.
"Today the California Supreme Court took a giant leap to ensure that everybody — not just in the state of California, but throughout the country — will have equal treatment under the law," said City Attorney Dennis Herrera, who argued the case for San Francisco.

Debbie Debbie
hey all -
so I totally meant to do Bubbatunesday yesterday and got completely swamped at work. I know I should not be working so hard when it's my birthday month, but damn those bastages in the work world.
Anyhoos, though I didn't get to talk about all the new exciting Bubbatunes I have whipped up - I do have exciting and stimulating news... somewhere out there my gal Debbie Harry is still cooking up gems and this wonderful little blogger just posted a new (as far as I can tell) Debbie gem so head on over and hear "Fit Right In"

It's All About Me - Brad's Birthday Present Pt 1
Well kiddies, it's that time of year again - the month of Me, I mean May, no, I mean me. Yeppers
my birthday (year of birth undetermined) is coming up. Actually the day is the 22nd but as anyone who knows me, my celebration lasts all month long (and usually a little longer) - luckily the Leivas is fully aware of these details and last night he went off to buy me some birthday presents...
and he came back with some super cool ones - in fact he was so excited for me he didn't wrap them or anything and he gave them to me right away ...
I present my brand new microphone - the Rode something or other - who cares, it's mine and it's awesome. He also bought me a nice mic stand. Let me tell you the mic is so good, I can't believe it. It even has its own built in head phone so I can actually hear myself recording .. I know it's amazing how limited all my musical work has been, but not anymore - I am slowly becoming more and more professional..
The picture isn't actually my microphone - well it's the same microphone but my stand is bigger and better, cuz you know that's how I roll.
In other tidbits, doesn't the microphone look so, oh I don't know, naughty - it kind of turns me on. I know I'm strange... but alas expect some wonderful things from this little baby and don't forget to start shopping - there's only a handful of days left and my list is long, it's very long.

All Mixed Up
Ugh! What a nightmare... so I've been working and working on my new music and when I say working, I mean working and mixing and when I say mixing I mean both the music and the drinks... geez who knew someone could blow threw that much booze in a few short months. I feel like Bree in that episode of Desperate Housewives where Lynette drops off all those empty bottles Bree has drank. Oh well, it's all in the name of art.
Meanwhile I think art sucks. I have the vocals down, I have the arrangements down and then I started mixing it up and I've had the damnest time. Meanwhile I've been learning all about the sound business and the mastering and mixing done by professionals. Excellant ideas and learning about it certainly makes me knowledgeable but alas I'm no professional when it comes to that.
Since I pretty much do it all on my own I thought, "What the hell maybe I'll just master the shizz myself, there must be computer programs right?" Well guess what there are a ton of them and they are all fairly expensive and of course way too technical for my blonde noggin to wrap around. I downloaded a version of WaveLab which is a mastering program so I can change the db's and all including putting the songs together so they have a solid sound through out i.e. a bit of mastering - well damned if I can figure any of it out!
But alas you should always have someone else master the stuff for you anyway cuz 1. they know what they're doing and 2. they come into the music with wide open and new ears, and so that's why you pay them at the lowest about $40 a song.
So finally, after two months of recording and one full month of mixing - and I mean working on this stuff every single night, I think I finally have it done. I ended up mixing up the sound just like I've always done so the sound and arrangments are the way I like them... for whatever that's worth - hopefully everyone else will like it too and I've even gone so far as to "mix down" everything just in case I should someday have enough confidence and moolah to send it to be mastered..
Meanwhile stay tuned for leaks on the new Swivek album Everybody Hates You - coming sometime this summer (!!!!)
