A Few Of My Favorite Things

It's Thursday and time to look at a few of my favorite things...

When I was a kid we had Cinemax and they would play the same movies over and over, Coal Miner's Daughter, 9 To 5, Doctor Zhivago, Xanadu - all of them seemed to be on repeat.. and then there was one more that always seemed to be on - a little flick called Headin' For Broadway and I loved it! Though imagine my recent horror to find out Rex Smith was in it, for some reason I don't remember him at all, but I do remember Terri Treas being in it, she would go on to bbe one of the whores in The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas and one of the aliens in V. Anyhoos, here's the opening sequence and some shorts after .... I want this movie!

A recent addition to the On Demand is a little TV show called Jeffrey and Cole's Casserole is a hilarious little TV show now on Logo. It's filmed like it's made for Public Access and the guys are a complete riot... I love it. Check out a preview and more on Logo Online.

And finally for those upcoming fall days, there's nothing like a good book to curl up with, and why not make it a vampire book by Adrienne Barbeau... one of my new all time fav books Vampyre Of Hollywood is coming out in paperback next week and you will love it... It seems there's an Armenian vampiress who runs a small horror film company and is known as a scream queen while a bunch of A listers are being killed - one by having his recently acquired Oscar shoved up his no no hole... it's pretty fun so read it!

A Few Of My Favorite Things

I always have so many favorite things kicking around in my head and this week isn't any different..

First of all, one of my all time favorite things is GREEN DAY. I have loved this band forever. Billy Joe is like a hero to me .. they had Pansy Division tour with them, they wrote and had a hit with a song about jerkin' off, they had a whole album now to be a musical based on their hatred for George W's America and now they have told Wal Mart to shove it when the big chain refused to sell their new album 21st Century Breakdown uncensored. It sucks as Wal Mart is now the biggest retail chain for carrying music but the band makes an excellant point saying the decision by Wal Fart will have negative effect on new artists trying to break out and not being able to say what they want... oh and the album still debuted at #1 anyway.

OLD TV SHOWS ON DVD part 1,069 - I know this comes up a lot on my favorites this but come on they are finally releasing some great ones. Four years after releasing the Charlie's Angels season 3 DVD set the Powers that Be are finally releasing season 4 next month. Sure the Shelley Hack season is a bust because of her, but the cover shot is one of my all time fav Angels shots and I'm sure she's not that horrible, plus Cheryl Ladd really takes over once 'Bri is gone and finally it means there's only one more to go - the brilliant season 5 with sassy pants red head Julie Rodgers played by Tanya Roberts.. believe me when that is announced it will make this list too.

and finally BIRTHDAYS! I love birthdays, I love the look on someone's face knowing that this is their special day and pretty much only their day - no one else's. But I really like MY BIRTHDAY as it is my special day - MINE, NO ONE ELSE'S - and it's the only holiday where I don't have to reciprocate by giving someone a return gift.... and did I mention tomorrow is my birthday???

A Few Of My Favorite Things

This week I have a few more things to add to my favorites list so let's look shall we?

Previously, I disclosed my love for all thing Van's and being the casual shoe whore I am, this week I give praise to my second fav shoe, the low top Chuck Taylor by Converse. These things come and go in fashion but the truly dedicated never let them off their feet - eventually everyone starts wearing them again - it happened in the 70's, then the 80's, then the grunge groupies and now it continues... plus they come in a ton of colors and I think I have about six pairs and counting.

Every year the TV Land Awards lets us view the best of TV past with insane awards and strange little ditties plus my favorite part - the reunions of the casts from old shows and this year they celebrated the 30th anniversary of Knots Landing! You can bet your sweet cul-de-sac I was watching when Reba cross eyed McIntire introduced the gang including the resident 'rock singer' Lisa Hartman Black and for a special bonus frickin' Contance McCashin even showed up! My second fav character ever her character of Laura was one the best thing for the 9 years she was on the show. (she may get her own favorite thing post someday).... oh and this occured just in time for the DVD release of Knots Landing's second season - buy it on Amazon.

and then there's the lists - I love Cracked.com and their crazy lists of all things insane but everyone and their mother (and anyone with a blog) seems to come up with their own top 100 lists of everything. And though no one will agree on every thing on anyone's list it's always fun to see what people think is the best of something... and Bradley's Buzz is no exception since I've done the top 100 Singles of the 70's and the 80's - According to Bradley - and soon very soon I'm adding a few more including the Top 100 Albums of all time - According To Bradley; the Top 100 TV shows of all time - According to Bradley and the top 100 Movies of all time - of course, According to Bradley.

My Favorite Things

This week I have so many things that have become my favorite things and now it's time to share...

First, equality is a favorite thing of mine - namely the wise courts of Iowa and Vermont who in one week decided that not allowing gay people to marry is discrimination. Also, Washington DC has decided to honor gay marriages (though I guess it would now be all marriages) from other states and of course Sweden (my ancestor peeps) who have also instated gay people the right to marry.

And what to do after you get married, well take your pals and head to my new favorite bar, the Normandie Room, just down on the corner from my home. I have had a good time every time I've been there. Though I think I left my umbrella ella ella hey hey there on Tuesday. Oh well I'll just have to stop in for one of there $2 happy hour drinks to get my ella ella on.

Then when I get home I can jam to the tuneful tunes that Wounded Bird Records keeps putting out. In the past they've been responsible for releasing all of Ellen Foley's albums on CD, re-releasing Deborah Harry's Debravation and Def Dumb & Blonde, releasing all of Melissa Manchester's albums on CD, recently releasing not one but four Juice Newton albums on CD and of course they were so wise when earlier this year they released Lisa Hartman's Til My Heart Stops on CD - I'm sure it's just a matter of time til the rest of Mrs. Black's albums hit the street thanks to the those peeps at Wounded Bird. Maybe they're hiring!!!
