Polidicks and Swivek Picks Part 2

Last night the Leivas and I sat tuned into our wonderful television to watch the first ever Logo Human Right Campaign sponsored Political debate. Apparantly, everyone running for both Republican and Democratic parties and beyond were invited to come by and voice their ideas. Surprisingly, not a single Republican came by - some refused to even respond to the invitation. So instead it was one party but hey, that's not all that surprising. What was surprising was some of the answers that came from the presidentail hopefuls - of course at this point, not only are they trying to be president, first they're trying to get the Democratic endorsement.

Hilary was there and she was of course well spoken and quite mesmerizing. This woman can answer a question with grace and dignity and surprisingly give you a little bit of a history lesson as well, she definitely knows her shizz. As for Obama, well he was surprising to me as well, he's all for the civil rights of LGTB people including domestic partnerships and civil unions, but alas, neither Hil nor Obama wants anything to do with calling such a union "marriage." But in their defense, they would like us to have the rights.

The surprises for me came from three unlikely hopefuls - the good, the bad and the so fricking awesome - first former Alaskan (??) senator Mike Gravel hasn't been in office since 1981 and is probably as old as my grandfather having put his first bill into action in the 40's (as in 1940's) but he is cool. He is a little out there and that's what I like in people - he's all for rights of all kinds and thinks people are people so why should it be that we should get along so awfully, or something like that.

Then there's New Mexico governor, can't think of his name but it's something like Liar Liar Pants On Fire I wouldn't vote for you, or something like that. He was all about how he has moved things forward in his state and blah blah blah, when asked by Melissa Etheridge (a former resident of New Mexico) if he thought people chose to be gay he actually said "Yes" before back tracking and then coming up with some round about answer for just about anything - basically I have found if the politicians don't answer questions with a restounding yes or no and then somehow meander all over the forum losing track of the question, my thought is their answer is the wrong one. Update: Just found his name it's Bill "Poopy head" Richardson.

But then a surprise came in someone I had never even heard of - a man all about love and should he ever really come to office, this world would be such a wonderful place. His name is Dennis Kucinich from Ohio and I love him. He is the only person on the forum who when asked to fill out a form on what he supports of issues that gay people generally support actually chose each and every one. When asked about same sex marriage he simply replied that it was a question of "whether you really believe in equality, I stand for real equality."

John Edwards was also on the panel but like the other 'mainstream' runners, he did nothing to really impress me. I don't know how much more politics, gay bashing, gay marriage talks, fighting, sneering, and round about talks I can deal with, but at least I can say I know who is now running and what they do and do not support.

You can find out more about the debate at the website: www.visiblevote08.logoonline.com/

and with that I think it's time I brought a little lightness into our dark world, and since it seems today is all about gay, gay, gay - why not have some gay music?

Swivek has completed, for the most part, the songs for our forthcoming album Into The Blue - of the somewhat upbeat and happy songs is one I'm particurlarly proud of - a little anthem about breaking down the closet doors and standing up for who you are! I call it "Fabulous" and hope you will do the same.

You can hear it at the Swivek My Space page! So run over and listen, and tell us what you think.

Listen to Fabulous here!

BubbaTUNESday

Here is some music news I know you won't read anywhere else - how do I know that? Well because I'm the only one who knows it - You see Swivek has been busy as a busy busy bee working the computers and loops of Hancock Studios. For the past few months I've been writing and singing and arranging and came up with 7 brand new tunes for a new album to be released this fall.. and then it sort of just stopped. I hadn't any real inspiration when after only one glass of Captain & Coke I worked up two new tracks last night! An instrumental I really liked suddenly inspired me to write lyrics and some old lyrics suddenly inspired me to write a new instrumental, so voila! we now have two more songs in the works for what I hope will become Into The Blue.

I won't give too much away but the song titles are going to be leaked right now - so far we have "Heartbeat", "Love Me To The Bone", "Not A Love Song", "Nothing And No One", "Fabulous", "She Is Peace", "Happy Happy Happy", "Smallest Impressions" and "Beauty Fades." I am going to also include "Deep Inside" which was released on the Flirt single last month because it works so well with everything and may even include a different version of "Flirt" but you know the details are still up in the air.

As for the latest Swivek single, I certainly hope you have downloaded it! If not run right over to Flexible Records and download it - the reviews are coming in "Flirt is genius" says one fan, "Deep Inside is the best Swivek song ever, and I'm not just blowing smoke up your ass," says another fan. So download here!

In other oldies music, you know the faboo 80's, I have revisited the Top 100 Singles Of the 1980s on my Bradley My Space Blog so if you feel the need to relive those 100 classics, I just posted numbers 70-66 with video links! Check it out here.

and finally, I just happened to stumble upon on this and let me tell you it is something to see!

Check out this strange video performance of Olivia Newton-John and "Physical" with a group of football players - keep watching to the end cause it gets pretty hawt! I don't know where it came from but I swear it was inspired by a porn movie I saw.. or was that a dream?

Kids Are Superstars Too

The best and easiest way to get into the entertainment industry has always been by having the fortunate luck of being born to a famous parent. Ask Kate and Oliver Hudson if maybe, just maybe being Goldie Hawn's children helped them out, or perhaps Jordan Ladd got a little push being my gal Cheryl's daughter. Of course there's no doubt that my gal Kelly O would never have made a CD if daddy Ozzy hadn't been there to put her into a TV series. I'm not saying that these kids are talented, I'm just saying they have the lucky push of having a foot firmly entrenched into the door, so it's no surprise when the offspring of famous people decide to launch a career of their own.

Most seem to actually do a good job and I'm talking of miss Kelly O who has made two very excellant albums and I don't want anyone arguing about it until we sit down together and listen to both albums from start to finish... then we can discuss... but I'll bet you'll be swayed...

okay this uber long introduction was basically done just to introduce you all to Chloe Lattanzi, the latest in the celeb offspring to head into their parent's career - Chloe is launching her debut album sometime this year and you may recognize the last name as her daddy is actor/dancer Matt Lattanzi but it's her mama who's the hot ticket named Miss Livvie - that's right Olivia Newton-John's daughter is making her music debut.

And she's not too bad, in fact I really like the music she's doing - it's modern pop but more in the P!nk vein than say Brittney - so check out Chloe's My Space page and definitely listen to "It's Magic" which (yes) uses a sample of her Mama's 1980 hit... it's really good and while you're on My Space go back and listen to Kelly O's "One Word" as it is practically Pop Music Genius...

I'm So Bored

Okay it seems like I always have a million and one little projects going on, and I'm not quite sure why. I think I end up putting a lot of time and energy into stuff that really doesn't do too much - though I must admit for every five hours I spend making a bubbatune compilation I save $60 I would've spent at the bar...

so on the agenda for the next few weeks I'm doing the finishing touches on the last episode of Carlton Heights and it's just in time too cause next week we are having a premiere! That's right I am working on a Carlton Heights website, there will be a My Space groups page and maybe even a seperate blog for the show. You and everyone you know will be able to go into the website and read the week's scripts. I'm going to upload a new episode every week like we were on TV or something, with the season finale online sometime around June or July - 13 weeks of Carlton Heights, could you die? I'll keep you all posted as I expect all of you on the groups page ....

then for the Swivek fans, I'm going to work up a new single for what I hope will be an early summer release and what better song to release for summer than the song Charles Mason wrote just for me - 'California Boy'. I recorded a version of it a few years ago using music by Louis Bustamante of Tiki Lab but he ended up using the music for something else and I've always felt the song needed some more punky new wave behind it; and for a B-side, I get tingly just thinking of doing Benatar's "Promises In The Dark."

Then we have a number of Bubbatunes album re-issues coming up including all 5 of the modern new wave music noir from Martha Davis and The Motels - some of them were released on CD at various times but almost all including the popular All Four One are hard to find and the folks at One Way and Captiol didn't do the stellar job I'm going to do - for I have B-sides, unreleased tracks and live stuff to throw on - The Motels, Careful, All Four One, Little Robbers and Shock plus Martha's 1987 solo album Policy. Then there's also Bonnie Hayes & The Wild Combo ("Shelly's Boyfriend","Girls Like Me") 1982 Good Clean Fun album, the first two Laura Branigans, Buckingham Nicks, Cyndi Lauper, Karen ("Manhunt") Kamon, Toni Basil and a few soundtracks... so that should keep me busy.

and after and in between all that I'm going to learn to play that damn guitar, oh and I'm going to start painting.... so what do you do in your spare time?

Reach Out And Find Someone

Thanks to the advent of the internet it is so much easier to find everything you ever wanted or needed including people. Thanks to Yahoo groups and the like I've met a lot of cool people and my two best friends here in LA came to me via some internet website, my pal Luther and I met cause we were both on a Blondie fan group and he happened to work for a magazine so we met up one night and a club and have been pals ever since and my pal Jen and I met over a Knots Landing website and we were both from the Midwest and besides of our love for Knots, we also loved Valley Girl, and again the rest is history..

but then something just miraculous happened thanx to My Space. About two weeks ago I got a message in my inbox asking, "Are you the Brad that lived in Wausau, cuz if you are we used to best drinking pals." The message mentioned if I wasn't that Brad then to ignore the add a friend option but seeing as I was I decided to add them as a friend, but being blonde I first went to their page and left them a message. The name on the website was a strange thing Artist Formally Known As ... something and they lived in Hayward, which is a small town. So I thought perhaps the person was someone I had gone to Northcentral Tech with, as I studied to be a interpreter for the deaf (until I realized deaf people scared the hell out of me), so I left that in a message and sent it off.

Then I wandered around on the page and finally found the info on the owner of the page and you are all going to shit a tin brick when I tell you it was frickin' Holly Quarderer! If you've read any of my blogs regarding my fun little life back in the day you're acquainted with Holly and her antics. Her tire slashing, SAT scores, and the Cousin Itt. She was one of my best pals ever and the inspiration for the Haley Osbourne character in my soap Carlton Heights, and she found me!

It's all just so exciting I may have to write another story about her....
