Well it was yet another whirlwind weekend with Gay Pride happening right outside my door. Friday night began with my pals Tommy & Ryan already at my house so you know Happy Hour was bound to happen. We headed down to Micky's where for some reason I got pretty sloshed. My pal Diggity showed up and of course my Leivas and then I was in bed by 9 pm. But what a way to begin the weekend.
Saturday we actually made it to the festival and it was surprisingly small and not all that exciting. Though I do love drinking beer in the sun with my boiz. Devin & Dylan & Marc all came around and then we ran into several other pals. Of course we ended up at our house for awhile drinking and swimming and having a blast.
Sunday was a little more crazy as I am pretty sure I was still on the drunk side of sober when I woke up. My Val Pals came over the hill and we once again ended up at Micky's. But this time I decided to dress in my skimpy red short shorts and a Blondie short. I was lookin' hot til I saw some hunky Latino guy wearing the same shorts and showing a bit of his black jock strap with no shirt on. Beatch.
We once again ended up at our house swimming and drinking with the neighbors and it was a lot of fun. But Monday was a bit of a bitch. Luckily we don't have any plans for this weekend so I think I can relax a bit.
But only for a bit cuz the hobby bug is picking up and I have some things to do. First I want to re-record a few songs in the Swivek catalog including "First Born Son" which is a song I wrote for my nephew who is having his 3 rd birthday this weekend. Also, there's some political songs I did that I would like to re-record. Plus I want to whip up a few new songs that I will record at a professional studio in Long Beach - Tommy bought me a full day of recording and I can't wait to take advantage.
Also, I've been looking over the "bible" I made for the second season of my soap "Carlton Heights" and there are some pretty good ideas in there. I would love to get going on it as I don't think the first season told the whole story - particularly since it ended on a cliffhanger and I know there's a few people itching to find out what happens.
So maybe this weekend I'll get started and get things a rollin'.
Well I'm off for awhile kiddies... tonight we are heading to the Leivas' and spending the night before being shipped off to the Mexican Riviera, where I will swim with dolphins, go kayaking on a glass bottom kayak, do a little murder mystery dinner and spend lots and lots of time drinking margarittas by the pool (complete with a slide)... so I'll talk to all of you in a week...
til then head over to Swivek's website and download my music, or re-read all 13 brilliant episodes of Carlton Heights cuz when I get back I may just have some ideas for season 2!
So very sorry for not writing as of late but it suddenly occured to me I have a bunch of self induced projects going on. First and foremost I'm still working on that damn new Swivek album, but with all the work going into it I can tell you it's going to be good. I even wrote three new songs in the last few weeks so things are a rocking. Obviously with next week being Thanksgiving and Christmas only a few weeks away, I'm pushing the date for Everybody Hates You to next year... but it will be sometime in the early parts. This gives me the extra time to fine tune the songs I am definitely including, finally figure out the track list - there are 8 songs for absolute sure - "Everybody Hates You", "Art Attacks", "Wounded", "Rock Hard", "Fabulous", "Cry Baby", "This Is A Town" and "Suck Out The Sun" -
luckily the only reason I can't come up with a definite track list is I like all 23 (yes 23!) songs I recorded for the album... and I'm going to have my pal Jules come over and add her angelic voice to some harmony on a few songs and since she's as busy as a busy busy b, I'll be lucky if she can hit the mic before New Year's.... plus with the extra time we can make a video or two! I really want to shoot a cool (as cool as cheap can be) for the next single which will be "Rock Hard"... I also am sending some songs over to my ingenius godson/nephew Z who makes videos with his friends so he can whip up a Swivek video...
Then I just realized I HAVE to go Christmas shopping this weekend or anyone not in my immediate residency won't get their Christmas presents on time. Luckily, I found some cool things for my little nephew - he's fun to shop for.
and for almost two years now I've been promising the second (and final) season of Carlton Heights, and I have my notes all together and the first episode almost complete, but it just takes me a bit to get back into it.. and everytime I hit the computer I end up working on music. So once that's wrapped up we'll be good to go.
And then there's that little Bubbatunes CD re-release project that is never ending.. hopefully I will have a couple more before year's end including a few more Kim Wilde CDs, two Cheryl Ladd CDs, Scott Baio, Kirsty MacColl and a few more... I know what would you do without my odd taste in tunage...
and for the Cher fan who loved "Prisoner" and was looking for more Cher, I have to search out the blog with "Take Me Home" on it, but I'm sure it's here somewhere and as for the other Cher albums on CD, they're still a coming - sometime in the future, I plan on putting, "Stars", "I'd Rather Believe In You", "Allman & Woman" and "Cherished" on CD and a compilation of Cher Misses (the songs that just didn't hit)...
Alright I'm off to find something to do... but will be next week with more posts ( I swear )
Whew! Just in time for a hot lunch, here's the Hot Bastage Of The Week - a hottie that I didn't really get all that attracted to until he did some hits with Miss Piggy... it's Iggy from Hairspray (okay he was hot in that too!), JOSH CHARLES.. and if things were perfect here in La La Land, Carlton Heights would be hitting the air and Josh would be playing Ronald Mitchell.
I'm not sure where the Santa pic comes from but it's pretty hot in a strange and twisted way and for good measure, here is one of the best scenes ever shot for celluloid, it's Muppets In Space where Miss Piggy is on a mission to save Gonzo from the alien protection agency but she has to get through hottie tottie secret service agent Josh - it's so good you'll have to take the rest of the day off so enjoy the HOT BASTAGE OF THE WEEK - JOSH CHARLES
I know I have been completely neglecting all 3 of you; my faithful readers but things are a brewing in the Bradley life. First and foremost I am kickin it at the mic and the loops with some new Swivek music coming out this summer. So far the songs are pretty great. I have twiddled down the 17 songs worked on to at the most twelve or at the least 10 really good ones. There are 7 originals and 5 cover songs including some strange surprises. We may even have a professional mixer and masterer involved which means the Swivek sound could be uber cool... and thanks to a new cut I started a few weeks ago we have an album title (and title track) EVERYBODY HATES YOU. I know it's so Swivek-y.
But because of the extra weeks I've been putting into the music, I'm a few weeks behind on Carlton Heights - but don't worry season 2 will eventually be here.
And for our blogs, I am going to start blogging as much as I can - just to see my name up here.. including new Bubbatunes CDs and next week we're going to do a special tribute to a gal I like to call Ciji Dunne -that's right - next week is officially Lisa Hartman week so I'm sure you'll all want to stop in for that..
and now for something extremely special, something I didn't know even existed.. my gal pal dancer uber cool Coco Ono who shakes her shimmy to the sounds of Shitting Glitter (say that ten times while drinking a Capn & Coke) has a frickin' show.. I want a show, or maybe by pimping this I'll get a guest spot.. either way enjoy The Coco Ono Show!
Last night the Leivas and I actually went out of our home and did something in LA. I know, hard to believe huh? But it had to be done because I had scored tickets to an event so big, so great, he had no choice but leave the Tivo burning and hit Sunset Boulevard.
We went to the premiere party for the new webisode of Girls Will Be Girls - one of my all time flicks ever. In fact it's so good I am jealous that I'm not involved in it. If you haven't seen the movie here's the gist - picture it, one old bitter has been actress named Evie has a housemate named Coco who has visions about the hot doctor who performed her abortion and then there's newcomer Varla Jean, who wants to be an actress just like her poor dead mother - who died at the hands of Evie ???? !!! I know! Oh and the lead actresses are all actually men. It's frickin' genius and by far one of my favorite movie quotes -
Coco: "Evie, have you ever had an abortion?" Evie: "Are you kidding me? I've had more babies pulled out of me than a burning orphanage.."
I know, not for everyone but so up my alley - and now they're back with 3 new webisodes - as the continuing saga of the Girls Will Be Girls continue. In the two parter we got to see last night Scott Thompson shows up as Coco's mother... it's just too much..
here's the first one for your viewing pleasure:
Oh and don't forget to check out the official website - www.girlswillbegirlsonline.comfor all the latest news and episodes (and you can actually watch HD versions of the webisodes) - perhaps we should film my showCarlton Heightsand put it up like this... oh how wonderful that would be? In fact, Evie may just make the perfect Ruth Carlton.
Well I had the day off yesterday and though I had to take a vacation day to get it, it was all worht it. I basically did laundry and then worked on a few projects and to all my fans, friends and foes - two projex I'm working up include the season 2 premiere episode of Carlton Heights (eek!) and a Swivek covers album (eek! x2). So far the bible and the scene lay outs are worked up for the CH and there are six covers working out including "These Boots Are Made For Walking", "Only The Lonely (The Motels), "Time After Time" by Nick Gilder and a few more...
But let's wander back to Friday - where I rooted for and helped (I do belive) get my pals Shitting Glitter to win a Battle of the Bands at Girl Bar - one more show and the guys and gals go to Palm Springs and play with the likes of a band I like to call the Go - Go's...
Here's some pix from the night - notice me yacking and telling them what's what!
and here is a you tube version of the performance for "Slut Buffet"

In the words of our creative consultant extraordinaire - "Hot cliffhanger, you bastard….now I’m on the edge of my seat. Excellent episode. 9 & 10 are the best yet!" And don't forget to leave your own comments at our Official My Space Group, and you can read all the episodes online at the Official Carlton Heights Website.
I'm sure you all think I just sit around on my lazy ass and watch TV all night long with the Leivas, and for the most part you'd be correct, but every now and then I get a splurge of creative robust and I end up trying to go overboard getting a million projects started, put on hold, restarted and eventually finished. Well, after a few weeks of feeling kind of, well blah! I am in the beginning states of my take charge creative forces and with that I have a whole bunch of crap I am doing and want to do - this is where we break into bullet points - I know that's how crazy I am!
First - A new Swivek music collection is being tapped as we speak. I promised a single this summer and I plan on delivering it. The finishing touches are working well on "Flirt" though I'm still mixing up the arrangement a bit, but it's punky, bratty and fun, so I think you will all enjoy it. As for the b-side, that's an ongoing process; I have a few contenders but figure I still have a few weeks left. As for a complete album expect that sometime in the fall. So far there are about 12 songs started though only 4 are really grabbing me, but you never know how far a long week of Captain & Cokes and a microphone can do. So far titles include the aforementioned "Flirt", plus a cool new one I started working on last night called "Heartbeat", then there's "Love Me To The Bone", "Cruel", "Not A Love Song", "Deep Inside" and "It's Not That Easy" - all which are coming together to work perfectly for the title which is Into The Blue - expect a promo shot sometime soon
Swivek is on the Radio - In fact "Radio" is on the radio - internet radio that is. We submitted a few songs to Jack Kitty Records for their online radio show hosted by Sense In Common. We contacted the very talented Tyler Adam (check him out here) and he has included our songs on his rotation stating, "I'm feeling this music". So check out Jack Kitty Radio on Friday nights and listen for Swivek's "Radio", "Garboesque" and "You're Not The One."
Gee, I think I wanna be an actress part 1 - there is a new NBC show coming out that is basically a karaoke game where you have to finish singing the lyrics to the song. I have decided though I may end up looking like an ass, I'd kick myself if I didn't audition, so I took down their phone number and I'm going to give them a call. I could be on TV finally! Plus if all goes well, I could a) win money b) promote Swivek c) sell my scripts. I'm going to try and convince my pal Julie to go with me - though I don't think it's going to take all that much coaxing. To see what the show is all about or to even audition yourself here's their website: www.nbc.com/Casting
Gee, I think I wanna be an actress part 2 - I've always wanted to do improv, not be a stand up comic mind you but be in super hilarious little skits with other people and just wing it. When I was in college I was in a number of plays and one of them involved an actor who had different parts in the play, so while my character gave a speech he went off stage to change clothes, I was on stage with one other actor and had to adjust times for how long it took the guy to change clothes and reappear - so I learned how to improv and let me tell you by the end of the second night my little improvs were hilarious and probably got a bigger laugh than most of the play. So anyhoos, while watching Outfest - a stand up comic show on Logo (that follows the hilarious - usually hilarious - Big Gay Sketch Show), I saw the Gay Mafia. They did this great little rap song plus a few other tricks and skits, so I went to their website to see if they had anything of interest to me - you know like open auditions and the like and found out they do an improv workshop. I shot them an email and am now wringing my hands hoping to break into the biz of improv comedy. I mean I could end up a) earning some money b) getting on TV c) selling my scripts. No matter what I am pretty sure I'd be great. To check out the Gay Mafia here's their website http://www.thegaymafia.net/
Speaking of my scripts, we were weren't we? Tomorrow is episode 10 of Carlton Heights and the show is getting better and better, but with tomorrow's episode there are only 4 more episodes until the season is over. I know you're all just itching with anticipation and because of that, it has come to my attention a number of you think it would be a great idea to turn Carlton Heights into a radio show. Well, I have to agree so I am putting together a cast and we are going to start recording Carlton Heights as an internet radio show. Any takers? For a list of characters you can check out the Characters list on the website. You can also download all of the episodes so far, just to know what you're getting into. My hope is to have everyone together in a big room (my spare room) around a microphone (my computer microphone) just like in the olden days. Carlton Heights wouldn't be the first one to do this as there is a radio soap opera out there called Scripts and Scruples you should check out. Either way, I think it would be a lot of fun, but for those of you who want to play Dylan I think I'm already taking that part - after all as a would be actor, I really like to play against type and Dylan is so far removed from me, it would be a real stretch.
And finally in case you think I may have forgotten - today is Swivek's Pick of the Week - and this time around we are staying rather current by throwing a song from our last album onto the web. Darkness + Light was released last September and it's my favorite Swivek album to date, in fact I'm a tad nervous that I won't be able to improve upon it with my new release, but what can you do? So with the greatness that is Darkness + Light, I give you one of the first songs I wrote for the album, the gritty rock of "Power and Passion", a little backbeat of LA life and the powers that try to keep you down. I hope you enjoy it! Swivek - Power and Passion
and don't forget you can buy the whole Darkness + Light album at CD Baby! Just click the CD Baby link anywhere you see CD Baby. I mean Bradley has a new nephew to take care of, I could use some cash!
EPISODE 9 of Carlton Heights is now online - Click the title and read the latest episode in Brad's ongoing saga of those nutty characters living on Avenue Sea. In our latest installment, ASHES TO ASHES - Marty enlists Ruth’s help in getting Aidan out of Ronald’s bed and out of town, Dylan and Toddy make an unlikely bond when Toddy comes through with a secret box of files, Larry finds solace in both booze and cleaning supplies while Haley nurses her broken heart. Guest Characters – Johnny Belducci, Stephen Merrick, Gertie Winston, Gladys Tudrow, Margaret Mackenzie, Toddy Tudrow, Sheriff Mackenzie, Old Gentleman, Verna Palmer, Chip Chandelor. Co-Starring Priest, Mrs. Hollingsworth, Donna Demarco (voice over), Various mourners, Customer at Marty’s Mayhem.DOWNLOAD EPISODE 9.

THE STORY: Welcome to Carlton Heights, the ongoing serial set in the small coastal town where the main residents are married gay couples with the typical problems of every soap icon including infidelity, dark secrets, oversexed sluts living next door and one raving homophobe lunatic who wishes they would all pack up and leave her town.
Writer Bradley Jacobson has created a hybrid of Knots Landing, Desperate Housewives and Queer As Folk, which begins when Dylan and Scott Irving arrive in Carlton Heights. As the Irvings move into a friendly cul-de-sac, they meet their new neighbors - Larry and Zimmy Bustamante, the happy couple with the newborn twins, the Mitchells - sarcastic and unhappy Marty and his sleazy husband Ronald who happens to be Scott's new boss. Then there's sexy and very single Aidan Palmer whose oversexed shenanigans involve both Marty and Larry's husbands.
But suburban drama isn't all that Carlton Heights has to offer, for up on the hillside standing over her town is Ruth Carlton, Aidan's homophobic, foul mouthed grandmother. Ruth watches everyone and everything in the town her husband created with one goal in mind - to rid her beloved haven of the filth she believes is taking over. To help and taunt her all at once is Haley Osbourne - Ruth's nursemaid who also works as the very under talented singer at Marty's coffee shop.
But in this small haven lies a ton of secrets just waiting to be dug up. As Dylan begins to mix with the residents, it becomes clear to him that everyone is hiding something. From the origin of the Bustamante twins and Larry's obsession in creating the perfect image, to Marty's disintegrating marriage and Aidan's strained relationship with his grandmother; Dylan is on a quest to expose everyone but he may just end up finding he holds one of the biggest secrets of the town.
You'll be laughing, crying and rooting for the residents of Carlton Heights as they deal with the day to day drama that is small town life.

SHORT VERSION: Bradley Jacobson is a singer/songwriter, sometime actor, sometime writer, audio engineer and producer, and all around happy dude. He was the singer/songwriter of the electronic trashy punky pop band Swivek, but is now a "solo" artist releasing music under his own name.
