I guess with Labor Day, the summer is officially over though I happen to live in the land of perpetual sunshine so it's not really over for me.... but that doesn't mean the Leivas and I won't be curling up together in front of the boob tube (more than usual anyway) and tonight is the beginning of a 2-fer on Wednesdays...
My fav summer series So You Think You Can Dance is now coming to fall TV and the premiere is on tonight - so you guys have enough advance warning to check it out - it is THE best of the reality competition shows, it's just really good and entertaining...
and then (gasp) then (gasp) is the premiere of Glee - The Series, it debuted last May with a one night show and it was so FRICKIN' GOOD - I can't even tell you how entertaining this series about a high school glee club is - it is so brillz it even has Jane Lynch as a bitchy cheerleading coach.. you're going to love it... and for all kinds of Glee Goodness check out their website where you can even watch last may's first episode in its entirety.. and check out the show tonight - they're both on FOX starting at 8/7 central time...
The Leivas and I spend many an hour in front of the old boob tube, okay in all honesty the Leivas watches what I believe to be every single television program on the air, but I usually end up on the sofa next to him for a variety of quality brad-like television viewing. So what am I watching this summer? Well let me tell you:
The most hilarious little tv show debuted on Logo a few weeks ago and I can't get enough of it. Rick & Steve - the Happiest Gay Couple In The World really have nothing on the Leivas & I but the show is a frickin' hoot. Rick and Steve and their pals - lesbian couple Kristen and her sardonic mullet topped girlfriend Dana, then there's Chuck in his wheelchair and his 19 year old twink boyfriend Evan. The main story comes about with Kristen wanting to get Rick to donate his goods so the gals can have a baby, after all "Conservatives and crack heads shouldn't be the only ones who can have a baby." There's some hilarious stuff and some parts that may not make everyone laugh but hey, I'm not everyone. One of my all time lines could've been said by me - when the 19 year old twink says, "I'm on pins and needles," Dana pipes up, "Mostly needles, I'm sure."

Then there's the old stand by that just keeps getting better and better, the third season of So You Think You Can Dance, with Mary Murphy's dorky and endearing exclamations, Mia Michaels and Wayne Robson's faboo choreography and of course the great dancing. We are down to only 6 dancers and I'm so rooting for Sabre, the feisty little woman with the big afro and the amazing moves. Watch it tonight!
and finally I love me those karaoke shows - The Singing Bee is by far better than Don't Forget The Lyrics if only for the fact that DFTL is so tense. They make you wait for what seems like hours to get the answers to the song lyrics and it's basically a one person show with the singer singing and singing and Wayne Brady acting and acting. Hottie Joey Fontaine (never thought I'd ever say that) on The Singing Bee is a lot more fun to watch and it goes a lot faster - plus that is the show I may end up on any day now ... I'll keep you posted about open audtions, if only to let you know I need a ride to the studio.

My favorite summer series and the only Reality show I really watch - So You Think You Can Dance returned a few weeks ago and as of last night we are officially out of the auditions and the top 20 have been picked. Not too many dancers stand out as much as they did last year but it is pretty early in the competition and it's hard to get to know them this early. But that doesn't mean I don't already have some favorites.
My two favorites came from two reasons, 1. The boy Cameron is hot with his punk hair (the picture doesn't do justice) and because 2. Last night his partner Lacey (who happens to be last year's winner Benji (the homo) little sister) did an awesome Mia Michaels choreographed contemporary piece that was definitely the highlight so they totally have my vote. The whole routine was incredible and beautiful done to a fairly cool ballad "Dancing" by Elisa which I have to track down...
Though in second place were two interesting characters Jesus and B-Girl Sara who took a super cool Broadway type of dance style and told this whole vagabond story that had me loving every single second.. You guys have got to watch this... Tonight, two of the dancers are getting booted and based on last night's performances it's really a crap shoot as to who will go - first off, the lowest rated dancers are signalled out - that is the viewing audience calls in and votes for dancers in pairs then the dancers with the lowest votes have to dance for their lives and then the judges have final call eliminating one boy and one girl from there - everyone was so good last night, I can't even imagine who will get the boot... though I'm thinking lowest calls might be for Fania, a Russian dancer who is the sister of someone booted off last year and comes off kind of pretentious but as for the boy, I'm not sure... don't worry I'll keep you posted...
And in other news, it's time for Thursday's Swivek Pick Of The Week - this week we have one of my favorite Swivek songs - "What Do You Think About That" from the 2005 album Army Fatigue, which was my rocky attempt at being political and pissed off, most of the songs had some theme of war, guns, politics and government and though it didn't seem to raise as much interest as I had originally planned I think it's a great album.
The song's lyrics were actually written in 1994 and it was a sort of coming out song if you will and I finally got to make it ten years later, that's right world I'm gay! Plus it's got a cool little rocking vibe to it. So without further ado:
