Saturday Nov. 15th 10:30 PST / 1:30 EST
Join us to protest INEQUALITY and make an impact!
JoinTheImpact. com is calling YOU to rally for one large national protest against hate!
When we all come together as one voice on November 15th, we will show the nation that we can do more than just talk, we can act! We won't solve everything in one protest, but we will fuel the fire to a conversation that can not be silenced! If we stop talking about equality for all, then we will lose the battle. If we allow others to stop talking about it, then we will lose. Hate is not the lack of love, it's the fear of that which we do not know. This protest along with many others gives us the chance to build on the conversation and educate the masses. It's very simple: Infiltrate, Educate, and STOP HATE
Okay, let me start by saying yesterday (and a bit still today) I was so upset about this whole prop 8 shit (yes I said it, shit) and almost left work because I could not think about anything else (and also cuz I'm a big tit baby so I'd almost bawl like a baby when I thought of it) and then after reading the internet all day long looking for some kind of comfort, I found out there was going to be a protest rally in West Hollywood at 7 pm.
So I went to my first protest/rally ever. I felt just like Tracey Turnblad - "integration now/segregation never!" plus I have put on a few pounds. Regardless of my size, it was really emotional for me. A lawyer spoke who told us that (just like Jerry Brown - attorney general has said) that anyone who was married while the marriage law was in effect are and will still be married.. but until Gloria Allred tells me that's the case I'm still walking on eggshells.
Also, it has bugged the shit out of me that like 70% Black and 60% of the Latino populations voted y on 8 (I can't bring myself to even write the prop) !!!! What the ... John Duran stated something I thought was important - the fact that everyone has been on the bottom rung of the ladder. Our stories may not be the same but the results are the same. I may not be discriminated against because I'm black but I can tell you that there is no doubt in the world that I know exactly what it feels like to be discriminated against and not just with this vote, but all the way back to the playground taunts to the drunken rednecks. One black woman told a black lesbian at a polling place (who had the No on 8 signs) that her kind was not wanted. Gee, how those 40 years since the days of Martin Luther King have flown.
There was also a great sign - 'HOW CAN A RELIGION OF FEW, CONTROL THE GOVERNMENT OF ALL?' and a few more good quotes (from Lorrie Jean I think) - "the people who voted yes for 8 can have their victory but it will be fleeting as THEY ARE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF HISTORY..." I love that last part.
The rally really rallied me up - I felt empowered and it obviously did the same for others as the protesters left the safe confines of the roped off San Vicente Road and began marching through West Hollywood and beyond.
I went to my pal Amy's house for her birthday and when I was walking home (around midnight) there were still marchers a marching... and today - they are going to one group of people who had A LOT to do with the YES business - that's right those weird ass full body underwear polygamist loving Mormons! At 2 pm today, there is going to be a protest outside the temple on Santa Monica Boulevard... I am loving this!
I am trying to be more upbeat but let me tell you this is still irking me something insane.. so I am going to keep doing what I can... and so should you! JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL and EQUAL RIGHTS ARE EQUAL RIGHTS...
I know you guys were all idly sitting by, twirling your twirlers waiting for this so here it is - the most intimate, lovely little thing a person can share with the whole wide world web - my wedding ceremony... it's a long ass 4 minutes so I hope you have time to watch it...
I also want to thank every single person that attended the wedding, as I have yet to send out those thank you emails... It really was cool to come around the corner and see all of our friends plus Alf's parents and sister there to celebrate.. and speaking of which once we're hitched in the video watch my pal Amy's reactions.. she's as excited (if not more so) than we were... and also see if you can pin point the moment when I start welling up and can't decide where to look just to keep from bawling like the big tit baby I am...
without further ado - THERE GOES THE BRAD - MY WEDDING CEREMONY ON VIDEO (filmed by my pal Geoff)
Well finally after a few weeks have passed, I have some pictures up from my ultra cool Big Gay Wedding - that's right 10-09-08 I got myself hitched, and you can check out some photos on my My Space page... there are more to come as these are just the pix my pal Luther took.. and also coming very soon is the actual video so stay tuned - I know you are just itching to see it all.
Well we did it - I went and got myself hitched. We even flew to San Francisco for a honeymoon and lived to tell our tale. And a tale I shall tell - soon, very soon. I'm going through our pictures, plus we are buying a new computer (with our wedding gift money ooh la la la) and will be downloading the video. Plus my bestest pal Luther took a ton of pix and Dylan took an additional video so there will be plenty to see and hear once I get my shizz back together... so stay tuned for more of MY BIG GAY WEDDING!
Yesterday it occured to me it is exactly one month until I'm a married man, perhaps that's why I have been having strange dreams about sexual encounters with other people (that's for another blog), but more pressing than what the things I can't control are the things I probably could control, you know like the fact I have become a fat ass and am only really hitching my dude before he wanders out the door and realizes not all blondes have an inner tube around their middle. So I have to lose about 20 pounds in about 20 days. Now my pal the Ciss, is an expert fitness guru, losing weight, counting calories, hiking, biking, gardening and doing all kinds of other insane things I would never consider, I guess I need to find a dealer, the crank diet has done wonders for many people and I'm sure it could work for me too. Thankfully, I don't have an addictive personality so I could totally stop doing the stuff once the weight is off... we'll see what happens I guess, now I'm off to smoke cigarettes and drink coffee so I can wake up.
Oh on a side note:
So some reviews are in on the new Swivek single "Fabulous" including:
"The single sounds fucking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)You rock my friend. :)" and "loving me some of the new music! very cool stuff you are doing. it's on my ipod now. "
Have you heard the new FABULOUS yet - download it for free at our website, and as a bonus is the "B-side" of THE KICK INSIDE featuring Devin Tait from Shitting Glitter.
This week has once again been kicking my little blonde bootie, so I'm sorry there haven't been many (any) posts, but you're not the only ones who have suffered, for in the haste of all that is my life, I, yours truly, Bradley forgot my own anniversary! Can you even believe it? Yesterday the Leivas came home with a card and a present and said, "happy anniversary" and I said, "oh thanks, I'm going to take a shower."
But it all worked out anyway, cause we went out for din din and then went to check out some videocameras as we need a new one, we didn't buy one but I have some items to research now.
and don't feel too sorry for the Leivas cuz I did buy our rings just the other day and that's quite an anniversary present.
The ring shopping actually went really smoothy, I looked through a bunch of rings and found one almost immediately that I liked. I wanted me and the Leivas to have the same rings so I showed him my choice and he liked it too.
Then when placing the order I had forgotten all about an engraving so I asked him if we should do it or not (I was aiming for a yes and that's what I got) - so our first inclination was a song lyric that meant something to both of us.
I had thought of a few songs to play at our wedding should we actually have a big to do and had picked out "Sandy's Song" by Dolly Parton and "Sand On My Feet" by Donna Summer as two favorites plus one of 'our' favs, Bright Eyes' "The First Day Of My Life." So we decided to listen to songs and come up with a saying to go in the ring. I even took out lyrics to Swivek songs I had written about The Leivas but nothing worked.
Then we decided to listen to Bright Eyes and see if there was a certain line we both liked and as soon as the singing came on the first line was, "This is the first day of my life.." and we both looked at each other and knew that was it.
So our rings will have the inside engraved saying "This is the first day of my life, 10-09-08" and this is what the rings look like:
Well it was a bit of a blurry weekend as I tended to dive headfirst into a blitz of booze and cheeriness. On Saturday we headed down to the Leivas' for a little relaxation and a lot of wine. Those Leivas' know how to keep me drunk I'll tell you that much.. then when we got home I thought it seemed like a grand idea to go out drinking so I rang up my palsie Luther who was already at Blender, but because of the Leivas' belief that there is a fine line between fun drinking Brad and bitch out fest Hell on Booze Brad, he didn't want to chance driving over to Silverlake and having me go all drunkenness on him. So he put on some pants and we went down to Trunks instead.
Then yesterday started with a bit of the blurs as I was climbing out of my hangover just in time to milk it with mimosas with Tommy and our pal Brian. Brian is now one of my all time favs because the bitch drinks and drinks. We kept up with the unlimited bottomless Mimosas until Tommy and Alf grabbed us off our bar stools only to be coerced into going to Trunk's where we drank more and played pool with Team Boozerella (that'd be Brian & I) actually winning twice - though one was a default as Tommy scratched on the 8 ball. Then I headed to the pool to sober up while Tommy and Brian headed back to the OC and the Leivas headed to the grocery store.
The sobering up didn't last long though as I continued drinking after being in the pool which of course ended up with me drunk dialing everyone and their mother. But that's because I had a few tidbits of news to share!!
That's right - life is all about the little bits of news I can get out there -
first and foremost - the Levias and I passed our marraige license and are now able to get hitched, so I paid the extra $20 to West Hollywood and we are getting married on October 9th. But because this is WeHo and not some five and dime courthouse ceremony, they actually walk us over to the park and we get married in the breeze of West Hollywood greenery. So October 9th, don't forget the presents - We're registered at Bevmo and Amoeba Music.
And the second bit of news - a pal of mine named Ryan from the OC hangs out with two guys and is helping them build a recording studio. Well apparantly the studio is just about ready to be recorded in, and I had already met these guys and steered them towards my little Swivek project. Well the guys are in a band and are going to do a gig and want (wait for it, wait, wait...) Swivek to open up! Can you just about die. Nothing is set for sure or anything and quite frankly I need to get some major details together before I can committ, but if things work out, Swivek at long last could be having a live gig! Get those CDs out and start memorizing my lyrics so you can sing along to such classics as "Debbie Doesn't","Speeding" and "Cherry Go Go."
Last night the Leivas and I pulled up the old West Hollywood website and filled out our marriage license and (gulp!) submitted it online... That's right kiddies, I am well on my way to becoming Mr. Bradley Jacobson (oh wait a minute??) Anyhoos, we are on our way to the alter.
Apparantly, we have to go pick up our license on Thursday afternoon in West Hollywood where we can also put down the payment to come back and do a civil ceremony but being WeHo this is no ordinary ceremony, no, no, instead they gather the group of would be newlyweds and trot them over to Kings Road Park where they are married under a gazebo ... it sounds fun!
However, the soonest we can book our date is October 2nd! But once we have our license we can do our own ceremony as long as there's a witness (to testify) and someone who can perform the ceremony (i.e. my pal Katie in her Bjork swan dress) - so I have one day to decide what we want to do...
I mean a swan dress on the same Malibu beach where Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsen met and fell in love, with a witness or two to declare they were there at such a blessed event... I don't know, it's tempting...
So the Leivas and I had finally decided to just screw it all and head to the courthouse on August 20th to officially tie the knots - that's right boys I will be off the market (the market I was never really on) - as it has been way too hard to try to come up with a wedding plan in a few months. My little blonde noggin just pounds when I think about who I want at the wedding, where I want the wedding and all that other shizz... so we just said we'll do it alone and then head to Vegas to see the Divine Miss M - as I am not going to miss her show; I mean she's getting up there and how much longer can she run around in stilettos telling bawdy jokes and singing syrupy ballads? Well that beatch put a damper in my plan as she apparantly gets the months of August and September off of her big Vegas show. So much for a frickin' honeymoon I guess... oh and the big 10th Anniversary celebration is still on for August 20, 2010 so that will be our big wedding - maybe by then I'll have seen Bette.
Whenever I speak of beatches, I have to think of bastages in the night - as those were the names my pal Lisa and I came up with for each other - we were the Wonder Twins - "I'm the bichie, you're the bastage - wonder twins powers activate - and then we'd hit the bar" so without further delay here are some damn fine Hot Bastages Of The Week -
Scott Baio - I don't remember him ever really looking like this but he was a hottie way back when and just yesterday I bought myself a copy of his album - that's right he made records kiddies and you can bet your hot chest there's a Bubbatune CD a brewing...
and for our local Hot Bastage - it's my pal Marc who celebrates his big old birthday today. He's so hot in fact he owns more records and CDs than I do. In fact for his birthday I may just let him invite me over so I can dub a bunch of rare music. Yeah, I know I'm a giver - it is the least I could do for him on his special day.

SHORT VERSION: Bradley Jacobson is a singer/songwriter, sometime actor, sometime writer, audio engineer and producer, and all around happy dude. He was the singer/songwriter of the electronic trashy punky pop band Swivek, but is now a "solo" artist releasing music under his own name.
